Yangpyeong County will host the 3rd Yangpyeong Wheat Festival from June 5 to June 8 at the “Yangpyeong Wheat Landscape Complex” in Cheongun-myeon. During the festival, Nenia will actively promote the excellence of Korean wheat as well as its identity as an eco-friendly food brand.
Nenia and Yangpyeong County have signed an Agreement on the Utilization of Yangpyeong Wheat. Under this agreement, Nenia will directly purchase eco-friendly wheat produced in Yangpyeong and use it in product manufacturing and distribution, thereby contributing to the growth of the local wheat industry.
According to the Yangpyeong County Agricultural Technology Center, the number of wheat-farming households in the county has steadily increased: from 12 households in 2023, to 78 in 2024, and 85 this year. Nenia plans to purchase wheat that is grown without pesticides or organically certified.
Yangpyeong County has positioned wheat industry development as a sustainable agricultural strategy. The initiative aims to address farmers’ income instability caused by climate change and the decline in rice consumption, while also preserving eco-friendly rural landscapes and fostering the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries.
By 2026, the county plans to establish 300 hectares of double-cropping farmland for wheat and powder rice, producing an annual yield of 1,500 tons of wheat. In addition, Yangpyeong County operates a Wheat Cultivation Support Team to assist with sowing, harvesting, and purchasing. This initiative is closely aligned with the Korean government’s First Basic Plan for Wheat Industry Promotion (2021–2025). If Yangpyeong County succeeds in fostering its wheat industry, the county—located in the Seoul metropolitan area—is expected to generate wide-ranging benefits across food culture, agriculture, tourism, environment, and the local economy.
During the festival, Yangpyeong County will offer a wide range of hands-on programs, including photo zones, wheat seed planting, traditional millstone grinding, photo mug-making, sand cookie baking, and a forest play zone. Street performances will be held daily from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of foods such as bread and cookies made with Korean wheat, refreshing beverages, shaved ice with red beans, banquet noodles, and cold acorn jelly soup. A Photo Contest for the 3rd Yangpyeong Wheat Festival will also take place.
Nenia Lucky Draw Event with Product Purchases
At the festival, Nenia will showcase a selection of wheat-based products, including white wheat flour, whole wheat flour, white wheat noodles, whole wheat noodles, chocolate chip cookies, and buttery heart pies. Beverages made with wholesome ingredients—such as Whole Tangerine Juice, Apple Juice, and Omija-Aing (Schisandra berry drink)—will also be available.
Nenia will host a special event at its booth: with a purchase of 6,000 KRW or more, customers can participate in a lucky draw for a chance to win 50,000 KRW worth of credits for the Nenia online store.
Oh Hyun-mi, Public Relations Manager at Nenia, who is overseeing preparations and the booth operation, said, “This festival is a wonderful opportunity to introduce Yangpyeong wheat directly to the many visitors who come to Yangpyeong.” She added, “We also hope that visitors will experience Nenia as an eco-friendly food brand through our healthy and delicious Korean wheat products.”
The Yangpyeong Wheat Landscape Complex is located at 698-17, Gahyeon-ri, Cheongun-myeon, Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province. The county hopes that this year’s festival will help further advance its Korean wheat industry development plans.
