Received strong evaluations for financial soundness, product development and distribution capability, and contribution to consumer activation
Agricultural corporation Nenia Co., Ltd. has been selected for three support programs, giving additional momentum to projects such as new product development. The three support programs are administered respectively by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Gyeonggi Technopark, and again the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation.
1st Support Program _ Strategic Crops Package Support Program
The Strategic Crops Package Support Program of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation supports the industrialization of “strategic crops” in order to improve the national food self-sufficiency rate and stabilize grain supply and demand. The government aims to foster the processing industries and expand consumption of wheat, soybeans, and milling-rice by supporting product development that utilizes these strategic crops.
Strategic crops refer to crops such as wheat and soybeans that have high import dependence, or crops that can replace table-rice cultivation in paddy fields, thereby increasing the utilization of paddy land. In the winter season, wheat, barley, oats, and forage crops fall under this category. In the summer season, pulses, milling-rice, forage crops, corn, and sesame qualify. To encourage the expansion of these strategic crops, the government supports activities such as product development.
Nenia received strong evaluations in financial soundness, sales volume, product development capability, sales and distribution capability, marketing strategy, and contribution to revitalizing raw-material consumption, and was therefore selected for the support program. Project costs are covered 50% by support funds and 50% by company contribution. Through this program, Nenia developed and launched five new products:
• Twisted (Kkwabaegi) Puff Pastry
• Sandwich Puff Pastry
• Organic Korean Wheat Tteokbokki Rice Cake
• Bite-Sized Loin Pork Cutlet
• “Ggakchan Goya” Meat Patties (five varieties)
All five products use domestically produced wheat:
• Twisted Puff Pastry (51.4% pesticide-free Korean wheat)
• Sandwich Puff Pastry (51.4% pesticide-free Korean wheat)
• Organic Korean Wheat Tteokbokki Rice Cake (99.5% organic Korean wheat)
• Bite-Sized Loin Pork Cutlet (15.37% Korean-wheat bread crumbs; Korean-wheat and Korean-rice frying flour)
• “Ggakchan Goya” Meat Patties (Korean-wheat bread crumbs; pesticide-free Korean wheat flour)
Nenia routinely uses Korean wheat as the base of its products in order to improve domestic wheat self-sufficiency. The company directly purchases pesticide-free and organic Korean wheat grown under contract with farmers, stores it safely in low-temperature warehouses without fumigation treatment, and uses it as raw material for its products. However, the domestic wheat self-sufficiency rate still remains at 2% as of 2023 (Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, 2025 Grain Policy Data). Nenia hopes the government will implement more active policies to improve wheat self-sufficiency.

△ Nenia’s Bite-Sized Loin Pork Cutlet, developed through the support program, can be cooked in an oven without frying. It is made primarily from antibiotic-free pork and pesticide-free Korean-wheat bread crumbs.

△ Nenia’s Twisted Puff Pastry (frozen dough), also developed through the support program, receives positive customer feedback for retaining crisp layers even when baked in an oven rather than deep-fried.
